University of Life is a residential community center in Dhamapur village, Sindhudurg. Here, residents design their own learning and shape it through the daily work of tending land, making things, and caring for one another.

We believe knowledge grows from practice. Science, soil, and spiritual growth are not separate subjects, but threads of one life lived with attention and care for the Earth.

Dr. Srinath Kalbag brought life into the vision of Syamantak, linking practical inquiry with a commitment to the Earth and to the people who live close to it.

Meera Kalbag, known to us as Amma, connected the community's work from science to spirituality, keeping inquiry and inner life in conversation with one another.

Dadaji, our spiritual master, offered blessings and wisdom that continue to guide the community's self-designed learning and daily life.

Our education is connected to Mother Earth. No one should have to leave their village for bread, butter, or education, or be detached from their own soil to keep body and soul together.

In earlier times, great architects, healers, and thinkers grew up in villages and never had to leave them. University of Life exists to make that possible again, bringing practical activity into conversation with spiritual self-evolution, social entrepreneurship, ecological sustainability, and social justice.
